Our Everyday Practices and Principles
- Incorporating design and construction elements from the US
Green Building Council’s LEED criteria
- Using sustainable materials whenever possible (if it’s out there
and it works, we’ll use it!
- Recycling (where there’s a will, there is a way!)
- Organization (getting it right the first time, means less trips to
and from the job-site!)
- Facilitating optional Indoor Air Quality testing before and after our
projects to assess levels of toxins and chemicals in the home
- Improving Indoor Air Quality through our use of non-toxic, zero
VOC materials (that means no formaldehyde urea, fungicide,
methylene chloride, plasticizers, or chemically laden flame
retardants, etc.)
- Buying Local (see “Community Affiliates” below)
- Promoting Conservation by using FSC-certified wood for our
furniture and flooring (promotes responsible forest management
worldwide)
- Practicing “deconstruction” rather than demolition
- Avoiding plastic whenever possible
- Using all-natural cleaning products to clean up our mess
